Whilst my game works ok my poor Mac always feels a little unstable when it's running Think about it this way - if you have 4Gb RAM and allocate 3Gb to TS3, your OS only has 1Gb left to run. Unfortunately Cider is crap and seems to take over your whole Mac. Fortunately OS X does it automatically for you, and very efficiently too. In OS 9 you could manually allocate RAM to Apps which was great for any resource hogging programs. There is probably a Terminal command which will enable you to do it but I have no idea what it is and would never dream of fiddling around in Terminal when there are other, safer options available.

With regards to manually allocating more RAM to TS3, this is not possible to do in OS X. Not only will it benefit your game but your Mac as a whole. RAM is relatively cheap and very easy to install yourself. I'm leaving out Mac Pros as I haven't seen anyone posting about one and they are fully upgradeable compared to other Macs. Unfortunately you cannot up the RAM in MacBook Airs and Retinas (which come with 8Gb as standard anyway so should be fine) but you can in MacBooks, MacBook Pros, Mac minis and iMacs. All those having problems are running on 4Gb. I haven't seen anyone who has 8Gb or more installed in their Mac having memory issues in the game (going by all the threads and specs. The easiest and safest thing to do is up the RAM in your Macs. When you start fiddling around with it you're taking away control from OS X in managing the OS optimally so please bear that in mind. RAM is an essential part of the OS in performance and stability. So it seems the biggest issue Mac users are having is RAM and how OS X is not apparently allowing enough memory to be made available to Cider and/or Cider is incapable of managing memory consistently.
